Crazies with Guns

Gun-Crazy-1949-Cd-Cover-37413There has been a lot of talk about preventing gun violence and finding ways stop “crazy people” from getting guns and shooting up theaters, malls, schools and churches. The problem with this is that none of the people who have committed mass murders are really crazy. A “crazy” person is a person who does not know what they are doing and does not understand the consequences of their actions. An example of a truly crazy person would be someone who is continually stabbing themselves with a pencil and not comprehending  that this action is harming them. The people who commit mass-murders go to great lengths to plan and execute their actions. They are fully aware of what results their action will yield.  These are people who are fully capable of hiding their intentions and blending into society. A mental check would fail to diagnose them as insane because they are not.

Can Slavery Make a Comeback?

Roman SlavesI am not taking about modern tax slavery, bank slavery or marriage slavery. I am talking about true slavery where people are worked to death and traded as livestock. If we do not want to see a world wide return of slavery, we most consider possible hypothetical scenarios where it could return.

First lets look at all the ways that people were traditionally turned into slaves. In the Ancient world if one city/state went to war with another, the loser would be enslaved. The logic behind this was that the loser was damned by the Gods.  The thinking at the time was that such people damned by the Gods should be put to death (men, women and children). An exception was made for those to be used as slaves. In the Ancient World Slaves were considered dead people. Hence they had no rights as live human beings.

The Case Against Expanded Background Checks

Expanded background checks will be abused.

First instance of abuse is where the background checks are used to create in illegal national gun registry.

In  Pennsylvania it is  illegal to have a gun registry… yet one exists !!!!
In PA the argument for the registry is that it is really not a registry because it is not 100 % complete, because it only includes new gun purchases. This violates the intent of the law.

Illegal registries already exist out of the abuse of background checks. Government breaks the law without penalty. They find tricks to get around the laws.

The meaning of the phrase “well-regulated” in the 2nd amendment

From: Brian T. Halonen <>

The following are taken from the Oxford English Dictionary, and bracket in time the writing of the 2nd amendment:

1709: “If a liberal Education has formed in us well-regulated Appetites and worthy Inclinations.”

1714: “The practice of all well-regulated courts of justice in the world.”

1812: “The equation of time … is the adjustment of the difference of time as shown by a well-regulated clock and a true sun dial.”

1848: “A remissness for which I am sure every well-regulated person will blame the Mayor.”

1862: “It appeared to her well-regulated mind, like a clandestine proceeding.”

Whoever said that the founding fathers didn’t think that all citizens should have guns is living in their own little world.

The following quotes by the authors of the Second Amendment, their contemporaries, various state and federal courts, and others should be useful in the debate over whether that amendment protects a right of individuals or only the military.

The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

Price Communication, the Organization of Production, and Freedom

Human beings are reliant on daily interpersonal communication. In order to buy the things we want, express our feelings and thoughts to others, or simply to let someone know we are trying to get around them we use some form of communication. Among the most obvious and common are speech and writing, there are also more subtle ways to get info across such as non-verbal communication like body language (Non-verbal communication). Regardless of the method, without communicating society would shut down. On a grand scale you could picture a breakdown in diplomacy between two bitter nations, or on a smaller scale you could imagine trying to buy something from a vendor without pointing, using words, or writing something for him to read. Everything would grind to a halt. So if communication is what we do to get across ideas, motives, thought etc, would not prices fall into this category?
