I am not taking about modern tax slavery, bank slavery or marriage slavery. I am talking about true slavery where people are worked to death and traded as livestock. If we do not want to see a world wide return of slavery, we most consider possible hypothetical scenarios where it could return.
First lets look at all the ways that people were traditionally turned into slaves. In the Ancient world if one city/state went to war with another, the loser would be enslaved. The logic behind this was that the loser was damned by the Gods. The thinking at the time was that such people damned by the Gods should be put to death (men, women and children). An exception was made for those to be used as slaves. In the Ancient World Slaves were considered dead people. Hence they had no rights as live human beings.

2nd Amendment QuotesRead this in light of the Well-Regulated Militia.
Whoever said that the founding fathers didn’t think that all citizens should have guns is living in their own little world.
The following quotes by the authors of the Second Amendment, their contemporaries, various state and federal courts, and others should be useful in the debate over whether that amendment protects a right of individuals or only the military.
The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
I guess the Philadelphia Police Department hasn’t learned its lessons with respects to open carriers from previous incidents I reported about on the blog here and here in the past.
The only hope we have now is the that in the coming months gun ownership will increase to a level that it will be almost impossible to enforce any sort of effective gun ban.
I am trying to calculate how a gun ban would play out and the sort of compliance that the government could expect:
First, we must accept that that the purpose of the Second Amendment and the entire Bill of Rights is so people can protect themselves from a potentially hostile future government. There is nothing else that guarantees the continuation of the Republic. People need to be well armed so that Government forces will respect and fear them.
