Sturmabteilung – The SA (also known as stormtroopers or brownshirts) were instructed to disrupt the meetings of political opponents and to protect Hitler from revenge attacks.
One thing I have always admired about the Founding Fathers is there simplicity. They didn’t obfuscate words or require over a thousand pages of literature to write the Constitution. They understood that the more laws you make, the less free a society is. That’s why the Constitution is a relatively small document compared to the reams of crap that DC churns out each year.
For example, the 4A states;
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized
Simple, to the point, and requires some serious over thinking to distort and bend this to someone’s political will. But that is what has happened. The Patriot Act was a game changer. It finally showed the Libertarian inclined individual what we had suspected for a while; DC uses the Constitution as toilet paper. Nancy Pelosi personified this when she answered “Are you serious?” when she was asked the question “where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?” by a reporter. That level of arrogance is astounding.
An even higher level of arrogance is the use of current TSA back-scatter machines, colloquially known as ‘porno-scanners’ due to the graphic nature of the pictures that can be seen by the government bottom feeders that operate them. Ignoring the fact that the back scatter machines use ionization radiation (which increases an individuals risk of cancer), or that a leading Israeli airport security expert states that these machines are ‘useless’ (the Israeli’s know a thing or two about security), the TSA is in direct contravention of the 4A on all grounds! No warrant has been issued to allow the unreasonable search of persons, allow there effects to be seized, or undergo a virtual strip search!
The TSA currently has a policy where people can opt out of the back-scatter machine in favour of a humiliating ‘pat-down’ by TSA staff. That doesn’t sound like much of an option to me. It can be argued that it is a person’s choice to choose to fly but sometimes flying is the only reasonable option for one’s travelling arrangements. I also didn’t see ‘except when flying’ at the end of the 4A.
These porno scanners are merely a symptom of a deeper illness that has infected the people of these United States (and most of the modern world) where fear is used as a justification for these draconian security measures. It’s precisely why the Founding Fathers loathed democracy and created a representative republic.
Hopefully, as more and more people become disgusted with theses scanners, and the TSA in general, we will see a reverse course in this country. Until then, we will continue our descent into the formation of American’s verison of the Sturmabteilung.
