What Tea Party?

Republicans swept the House of Representatives last year riding a wave of Tea Party activism into office. This movement claimed to be for less and more responsible government. It was supposed to get the government out of our lives…so, would someone please tell me why our new Republican congress is voting to extend the Patriot Act, one of the largest infringements on civil liberty and privacy and expansions of government power in the history of this nation?

Perhaps they forgot one of the reasons that we had a tea party in the first place was because the British government gave themselves the authority to violate our privacy and invade our homes without cause. I’m just going to go out on a limb and assume that the guys who threw the original tea party would frown on a piece of legislation that allows government agents to write their own warrants, listen to our conversations without a warrant, and spy on its own people.

The Republican and Tea Party promise of less government is beginning to sound a lot like “change you can believe in”.

EXACTLY! I didn’t even think about linking the two before. After seeing some of I realized just how Statist the “conservative” community really is, just how blind and obedient they are, they really are Obamaphiles 2.0. And trust me, I used to be one!
